President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. may once again step on United States soil as talks for a meeting between Marcos and US President is in the works.

Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez said Wednesday that Biden may host Marcos at the White House next year, adding during a television interview that he is “very confident” that the meeting will occur.

Romualdez said during an interview with ANC that while the US would like for Marcos to meet Biden in the White House, the schedules of both presidents must be considered.

“The White House has told us that [they] would like very much President Marcos to come. But as always, the schedule of both leaders is very important,” Romualdez said in an interview on ANC.

Romualdez added that if not in 2023, the US president would still like to meet Marcos in the White House “at some point in time.”

This comes amid the three-day Philippine visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris with the Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, where Harris already had courtesy calls with both Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte.

Harris is in the Philippines “to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to the defense alliance with the Philippines and strengthen our economic relationship,” according to the US Embassy in the Philippines.

Marcos first stepped on US soil as the President of the Philippines in September 2022 as he attended the Nations General Assembly in New York City. (GFB)
