Mandaue Lends Vacuum Truck to Talisay to Solve Tabunok Floods
Talisay City residents who were disturbed by the flooding due to a stock-up drainage at barangay Tabunok got a sigh of relief yesterday when a vacuum truck arrived to clean the drainage.
Talisay City administrator John Yre Delos Reyes on Thursday was thankful to Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes for lending his vacuum truck to the City to address the long time drainage problem in the area.
Delos Reyes, son of Talisay City Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes, said the problem has been there already before he and his father mayor’s incumbency. He said it remained unsolved by Talisay City councilor Danilo Caballero.
He said all residents who were affected by the overflowing water during rainy season blamed Caballero for always giving them promises but no action at all.
According to the young Delos Reyes, they just observed how Caballero act to solve the problem.
“Everytime there’s a heavy downpour, I always feel uneasy knowing the problem to be confronted by the people and even some motorists who pass by along that area”, Delos Reyes said.
Because of Caballero’s failure to solve the problem, John Yre and his father mayor JVR tried to negotiate with Mandaue City Mayor Cortes to borrow their vacuum truck.
Mayor Cortes allowed them to use their vacuum truck which resulted to total clean up of the drainage system by unclogging the dirt and garbage materials from inside.
Delos Reyes also asked the people to help maintain the cleanliness of the area by not throwing their garbage into the drainage to prevent flooding.
