Mandaue City Cops Offer Free Load for Info on Illegal Drugs in ‘Oplan Texthang’
The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) has implemented “Oplan Texthang” which gives free cellphone load to people who will report illegal drug activities through text messages.
Senior Superintendent Roberto Alanas, MCPO director, said he came up with Oplan Texthang to get more information about persons who are involved in the illegal drug trade.
Alanas said the new strategy is a part of their anti-drug campaign program, aside from Tokhang (Toktok Hangyo) and Taphang (Tapok Hangyo).
“Through Oplan Texthang, we can provide the public with police numbers to send their reports,” Alanas said.
He said MCPO personnel will visit the Mandaue City Hall, malls, barangays and other areas where they will collect phone numbers.
Alanas said the MCPO Tactical Operation Center (TOC) will send a message to these numbers to inform them about Oplan Texthang and the police numbers.
The TOC will send the messages in English, Cebuano or Tagalog using a cellphone that is connected to a computer with a wifi connection.
The message encourages the receiver to inform a family member or a friend who is into drugs to surrender. It also asks the receiver to forward the message to their relatives and friends.
The Texthang message will also inform recipients a free load will be given to those whose report on illegal drug activities is positive.
Alanas said Oplan Texthang also entertains reports about other crimes, such as robbery and theft. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
