Malacañang declares May 13 a Special Non-working Holiday
President Benigno Aquino III earlier today declared May 13, Election Day, a special non-working holiday throughout the country.
This was announced by the Malacañang today. Malacañang, in a statement, said purpose of the declaration is for every registered Filipino voter “to exercise their right to suffrage.” Aquino also urged the Filipinos to use the holiday to participate in the electoral process it being the “bedrock of our democracy.”
