Magpale Wants to Retire from Politics
Although Gov. Hilario Davide III wants her as his running mate, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale said that if she could have her way, she wants to retire from government service.
“Honest, gusto na gyud ko mo-retire. I’m ready to retire,” said Magpale.
The 72-year-old Magpale, however, said that her final decision will still be scrutinized by her two parties: Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya or Bakud, and Liberal Party.
Magpale admitted that she’s already old and that there are young possible candidates who can take over her seat.
“Daghan man batan-on. We have to give way to the young,” she said.
Magpale served as vice governor in 2011 following the death of Greg Sanchez, and the year after she was acting governor for months after the Governor Gwen Garcia was suspended. In the last May 2013 polls, she was elected as vice governor.
