Magnitude 7.2 Quake Hits Sulu and Celebes Sea
A magnitude 7.2 quake hit off Sulu in Southern Philippines at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday, the state volcanology office said.
No casualty or damage to property was reported.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter was traced in Celebes Sea and 223 kilometers south of Tongkil, Sulu.
Phivolcs, in a bulletin, said the quake was tectonic in origin.
