Magnitude 6.3 Quake Shakes Catanduanes, Other Parts of Bicol
Legazpi City (PNA) — A magnitude 6.3 earthquake jolted the province of Catanduanes and nearby areas on Monday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Tuesday.
Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said the quake was recorded at 11:13 p.m at 92 kilometers northeast of Virac with a depth of one kilometer.
Solidum said it was felt with Intensity III in Panganiban, Catanduanes; in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon and Legazpi City in Albay.
Intensity 2 was felt in Naga City in Camarines Sur.
He said the quake was tectonic in origin, that is, it was triggered by the movement of the earth’s crust.
