Madridejos Council Allows Dela Fuente to Sign MOA with NHA

For the town to get the P5 million financial assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Madridejos municipal council has conferred authority to Mayor Salvador dela Fuente to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the said national agency.

The amount has been earmarked by NHA for the construction of the houses of the residents affected by super typhoon Yolanda that badly hit visayas region last November 8.

The NHA under its Housing Materials Assistance Program approved a P5 million housing assistance to each of the 15 Yolanda-hit towns. And for Madridejos, being among those affected, must sign a contract with the NHA.

The said resolution authorizing dela Fuente to sign the contract was approved by the town council last March 10, four months after Yolanda.

The town claims that there are 2,119 households from its 14 barangays whose houses were damaged by Yolanda.

In February, the council had authorized dela Fuente to enter into a MOA with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the release of the P32.2 million intended for the rehabilitation works of its damaged public infrastructure.

This, however, has been changed, after the provincial government downgraded the rehab funds from P27 billion to P10 billion weeks after the storm hit.
