LTO To Implement New Issuance Of Driver’s License System Soon
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will implement the new issuance of driver’s license as soon as the national government announces its effectivity.
The new system will require a driver’s license applicant to undergo a 15-hour mandatory driving course in any LTO-accredited driving school before he/she can acquire a student permit (SP).
If an applicant passed the driving course, the accredited driving school will transmit a certification to the LTO that he/she is qualified to apply for a driver’s license.
There are currently 17 driving schools in Central Visayas that are accredited by LTO as of the moment.
LTO Central Visayas (LTO)-7 Regional Director Vic Caindec revealed that it is only a matter of time that this new system will be implemented nationwide.
“Kita diri sa Central Visayas ready nata sa bagong sistema, mas safe ug mas nindot ni kay mas educated na atong mga drivers (We are ready here in Central Visayas. This new system is safer and more efficient since it makes our drivers more educated),” said Caindec.
Meanwhile, driving schools who wish to be accredited by the LTO must have a 14mx14m driving site where students can perform their practical driving lessons, at least two (2) 4-wheeled vehicle, two (2) motorcycle with both manual and automatic transmission and a 24-square meter lecture room.
