LTO Expects to Release Car Plates, Licenses Q2 of 2017
More than 40,000 vehicles in Western Visayas are expected to receive their car plates second quarter of 2017.
LTO-6 Regional Director Dennis Singzon, in an interview Tuesday, said that the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) revealed that they will make the plates available to its stakeholders in second quarter next year.
He said that Western Visayas has a backlog of more than 40,000 with his office receiving an average of 40 plates applications for new cars and 1,000 plate applications for new motorcycles daily.
The plates to be released include those for new motorcycles and cars as well as for those that applied for renewal. LTO will also release stickers, Singzon said.
The LTO head in Western Visayas admitted that their office is loaded with complaints due to the delay of plates but he explained that the people on the ground are not at fault.
“This is a top management issue of the DOTC and the LTO central office,” he said.
Currently, Singzon said that there are about 13 million of backlog plates nationwide. (PNA)LAP/PGL/CBFERRER/CBF
