LTO-7’s Driver’s Education Center to Launch Soon
The Land Transportation Office Central Visayas (LTO)-7 will soon launch its own “Driver’s Education Center” (DEC) which will technically serve as a public driving school for people who cannot afford to enroll in private driving school. This is the first ever DEC in the region.
LTO previously required all applicants to undergo an actual driving course to acquire new student permits, new driver’s license and to those who wish to change or add their existing license’s restriction code.
“If there is what we call a private driving school, this is considered as a public driving school that will help those who cannot afford to enroll in a private driving school. With our own DEC, they can still get their license and be certified in our backyard,” said LTO-7 Regional Director Vic Caindec.
LTO-7’s very own DEC will be situated in their current Cebu City District Office in N.Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City and can accommodate 10 applicants per session following the social distancing protocol.
Applicants for student permits must undergo a 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) while a Practical Driving Course (PDC) is also required for new driver’s license applicants for both professional and non-professional.
Additional Restriction Code (RC) applicants also need to secure a PDC certificate.
Applicants can avail the services of LTO-7’s DEC with prices starting at P300.
According to the LTO, an applicant must be indigent with good morals, and must enroll online for slot reservation.
This move aims to address the lack of driver’s education in the country and to produce more educated drivers on the road to avoid vehicle related accidents. (MLC)
