LTO-7 Releases Over 33,000 Vehicle Registrations
The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO)-7 released 33,140 new motor vehicle Certificate of Registration (CR) last Friday, March 13.
26,919 registrations were released for motorcycles while 6,221 for four-wheel vehicles.
The said agency also advised the public to verify their dealers’ accreditation before making a purchase.
“We have zeroed out the transactions submitted from January to March 3, 2020. Over 33,000 Certificate of Registrations were released on March 13. It is not true that the process will take five to six months. Once the documents are completed and submitted on time, we will process that per our Citizen’s Charter guidelines. We want to be transparent to the public and inform you with our procedures,” said LTO-7 Regional Director Vic Caindec.
Caindec pointed out three main reasons that caused the delay. Incomplete documents, late submission of papers and some dealers are not accredited to process the registrations.
It was also known that most dealers have many branches present but not all are LTO-accredited. Dealers often use the accredited branch to process applications for non-accredited branch which can definitely slow down the process mainly because it is a violation of the LTO rules.
Meanwhile, LTO is persistent in implementing the NO REGISTRATION NO TRAVEL policy.
LTO-7 urged the buyers to always check its dealers’ credibility on complying the LTO’s rules and regulations.
“The motorist should secure a registration first before travelling on the road to avoid penalties and apprehension,” Caindec added. (MLC)
