The Land Transportation Office Central Visayas (LTO)-7 has open the doors of the “Malasakit Lounge” to the public on Wednesday, October 9. The Malasakit Lounge is located at the LTO-7 regional office in N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City.

This is the first ever Malasakit Lounge in the country.

LTO-7 regional director Vic Caindec discussed about the opening of the Malasakit Lounge a couple of months back during a forum.

Caindec said that the main purpose of the lounge is to provide a comfortable place for people waiting for their transactions to be done in their office.

“The concept is all about Malasakit, which means care for the people who need extra care and extra help,” Caindec said.

The Malasakit Center is open to all LTO’s clients but senior citizens, Persons-With-Disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, lactating mothers and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are given priority.

“Naa say mga times nga peak season diha sa southbus terminal and pwede ra sad namo i-open ning lounge to accommodate mga senior citizens ug kanang mga bata (There are times where the south-bus terminal is congested especially during peak season and in line with that, we can open that Malasakit Lounge to accommodate senior citizens and children.)

During the press conference, LTO Executive Director Atty. Romeo Vera Cruz explained that these kinds of projects will really give comfort to the lives of every Filipino. In fact, Vera Cruz commended the effort of LTO-7 under the leadership of Director Caindec.

“Mao ni nagpaila sa direction ug mga programa sa atong kasamtangang administrasyon ubos ni Presidente Duterte. This is a proof that LTO-7 is really sincere in giving better services to our people (This is where you can see the programs of the government under President Duterte’s administration. This is a proof that LTO-7 is really sincere in giving better services to our people),” Vera Cruz said.

The said lounge is fully air conditioned and is equipped with CCTV cameras for security purposes. People can also enjoy a cup of coffee. The lounge has also various charging ports.

However, charging stations, free water and coffee service, and reading materials will be available once the lounge is fully operational.

Aside from the facilities and amenities mentioned, the Malasakit Lounge also features a play room for children and a lactation room for lactating mothers.

Caindec said that Senator Bong Go’s Malasakit Center was the biggest influence of the Malasakit Lounge.

“The Malasakit Lounge was conceptualized because we had an extra space at the LTO-7 office that was underutilized,” Caindec said. (MLC)
