LTFRB Inspects Bus Terminal as Passengers Head Home for Christmas Holidays
Officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory board (LTFRB) in Region 7 on Tuesday inspected the buses at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) on N. Bacalso Avenue as thousands of passengers return to their hometowns for the Christmas holidays.
LTFRB-7 Director Rey Elnar led the inspection of the buses to find out if their documents such as registration and franchises are in order.
”We have to weed out the colorum buses,” Elnar said.
Elnar said the unregistered buses have not been inspected by his agency and could pose a danger to the passengers.
The Department of transportation and Communication (DOTC) imposes a fine of up to PHP1 million to operators of colorum buses, he said.
But he said no colorum bus was found during the inspection they conducted at the CSBT.
”We have so far not found any violator,” Elnar said.
Officials at the CSBT said they expect more passengers at the terminal on Wednesday and Thursday. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
