LPA to Exit Country Anytime Wednesday – PAGASA
Manila (PNA) — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday said that gradual weather improvement is expected as the low pressure area (LPA) affecting Luzon is likely to exit the country anytime today.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA is now at the west Philippine sea and was estimated based on all available data at 250 km West of Baguio City (16.5ºN 118.0ºE) as of 4 a.m. Wednesday.
He said based on the agency’s numerical models, the weather disturbance has a slim chance to become a tropical depression and the agency will continue to monitor it.
He said they still expect two to three more storms to enter the country before the end of the month.
Aurelio said the LPA continues to move outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and with this development gradual weather improvement will be expected in Luzon including Metro Manila.
For Wednesday forecast, Aurelio said the regions of Caraga and Davao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms due to a cloud cluster east of Mindanao.
He added the cloud cluster has a high chance to develop into LPA.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country including Metro Manila will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, he said.
Aurelio noted that no gale warning was issued so sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft.
In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the Southwest to Southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the Northeast to southeast over the rest of the country.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (PNA) CMR/CLTC
