LPA to Dissipate Within the Next 48 Hours
Manila (PNA) — A low pressure area (LPA) spotted in Eastern Visayas Is expected to dissipate within the next 48 hours, the state weather bureau said on Monday.
PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar said the LPA with its speed movement is expected to hit landmass that may cause it to dissipate.
Escullar said as of 4 a.m. the LPA was spotted at 280 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (11.0ºN 128.7ºE).
She said based on the agency’s numerical models, the weather disturbance has a slim chance to become a tropical depression, but the agency continues to monitor it.
PAGASA still expects two to three more storms to enter the country before the end of the month.
The next tropical cyclone that will visit the country will be named “Kanor.”
In its Monday forecast, PAGASA said due to LPA, Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, Bicol region and the provinces of Rizal, Quezon and Aurora will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile,the rest of the country including Metro Manila will continue to have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also said that no gale warning was issued so sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft.
It added light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to northwest over the rest of the country.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (PNA) FPV/CLTC
