LPA Now Tropical Depression ‘Labuyo’

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)on Friday announced that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has developed into a Tropical Depression (TD), and was named “Labuyo”.

In its website, Pagasa said that as of 4:00 a.m Friday, Labuyo was estimated at 1,150 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 KPH near the center. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 9 KPH. Meanwhile, the LPA was estimated in the vicinity of Cuyo, Palawan embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao, it said.

As of Saturday update, ‘Labuyo’ is expected to make a landfall on Monday.
