LPA Intensifies into TD; Signal 1 Over Parts of Visayas-Mindanao
State weather agency said the low-pressure area (LPA) east of Surigao del Sur intensified into a tropical depression Wednesday morning.
PAGASA gave it local codename: TD Queenie.
PAGASA, in its 7:30 a.m. bulletin, said TD Queenie was estimated at 260 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or at 310 km east-southeast of Surigao City as of 7 a.m.. The tropical depression was packed maximum winds of 45 kph near the center and is forecast to move west-northwest at 25 kph, PAGASA said.
Queenie is expected to be at 290 km west of Surigao City Thursday morning and at 95 km west of Puerto Princesa by Friday morning, it added.
By Saturday morning, it is expected to be at 705 km northwest of Puerto Princesa, PAGASA said.

The state weather agency said Queenie may bring rainfall of 7 to 15 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) within its 300-km diameter.
Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas under Storm Signal No. 1 as well as the rest of Mindanao are advised against possible flash floods and landslides.
Fisherfolk and those with small sea craft were advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said.
