Low Vaccinate Rate Seen in Cebu
A low vaccination turnout was observed in some areas of Cebu, according to the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC).
According to VVOC, areas such as Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, City of Naga, and towns from Minglanilla, Consolacion, Liloan, and Cordova, did not reach their target number of vaccinated individuals from September 20 to 26.
From the target 153,750 doses of COVID-19, only 27,000 or 18% doses were inoculated for dose while 66,914 or 44% doses were allocated for the second dose.
Although they did not reach their target, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, VVOC spokesperson, said that the vaccination rate may increase in the upcoming months as the country prepares for the vaccination of the rest of the population.
VVOC is waiting for the guidelines for the vaccination of young adults — ages 12 to 17 years old.
Unfortunately, according to VVOC, there are 221 doses of COVID-19 vaccines that were wasted in region 7.
As of September 27, Cebu already fully vaccinated 928,265 individuals and partially vaccinated 1,085,046. (ASC)
