Local Tourism Council Bats for Access Roads, Beautification Projects
At least 10 road projects leading to declared tourism destinations in the province will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under its Convergence and Special Support Program this year, according to Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) here.
Mary Ann Cua, PTC chairman, said these road projects include the access roads leading to Aglipay Caves, Napipiwongan, Mabo, Dibiwen Falls and Pensal Falls in Aglipay; Ganano Falls in Diffun; Governor’s Rapids and Maddela Eco-Park in Maddela; Siitan Nature Park and Diamond Cave in Nagtipunan; NRJ Gundaway-Susong Dalaga, Zamora-San Marcos-Ricarte Sur, Diffun and Zamora, Cabarroguis and the Quirino Tourism Complex.
Aside from the Search for Model Home and the Model Barangay and Leadership Award, the PTC also conducted a landscaping training in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
At least 45 gardening enthusiasts graduated from the landscape training and were able to obtain a National Certificate II from TESDA.
Based on the evaluators’ observation, the PTC’s beautification program resulted to cleaner and more beautiful surroundings all over the province as more residents were encouraged to grow flowering plants and vegetables in their yards.
Other remarkable accomplishments of the Council include the hosting of the 2017 Cagayan Valley Regional Tourism Council and the improvement of the Provincial Museum in collaboration with the provincial government. (ALM/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
