Local Animals More Resilient Despite El Niño Due to Yolanda Biologics and Vaccines
San Jose, Antique (PNA) –- The Antique Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) is confident that the herd of cows, carabaos, goats and other local animals will be more resilient with the adverse effect of the El Niño phenomenon because of their recently distributed biologics, vaccines and supplements which are still part of the Yolanda Rehabilitation and Recovery Program.
Antique Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Romeo Magdatu said in an interview that their recent distribution to 11 towns in the province that were affected by the onslaught of typhoon Yolanda in Nov. 8, 2013 of the biologics, vaccines and supplements somehow could boost the health of the local animals as they brace again this time for the El Nino phenomenon.
He said that these biologics, vaccines and supplements that they just received from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) which they distributed could particularly address threatening diseases such as hemosepticemia, cholera, and avian pest.
He added that aside from DA-BAI’s aide the provincial government also allocated about Php200,000 worth of medicines which they added during their distribution. (PNA) CTB/AJPETINGLAY/CBF
