LnB, DILG Conducts Training For Newly Elected Cebu City Brgy. Officials
Liga ng Barangay (LnB) in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of Cebu City conducted an orientation and training for newly elected barangay officials at Harolds Hotel.
The seminar entitled “BNEO for GREAT Barangays Program” or Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) under Grassroots renewal and Empowerment for Accountable and Transparent (GREAT) aims to refresh or educate not only newly elected barangay officials but also the re-elected on governance and administration.
LnB President Hon. Franklin Ong said that properly governing a barangay is a complex job.
“Ang tinu-oray jud na pag serbisyo sa atong barangay dili ing-ana kadali (To truly govern a barangay is not easy)… Dili na pareha saona nga simple karon medyo complex na jud siya daghan nang areas himuon (Governing a barangay evolved from simple to complex… Unlike before that it was simple now it has evolved to be a more complex job),” he said.
Ong also mentioned that the seminar got delayed because of budget constraints and thanked the Cebu City government on supporting this program.
“When I assumed the office as the president for the Liga ng Barangay, one of the first orders was the meeting with DILG for this BNEO… it was supposed to have started as early as August pero na delay man ta kay first akong gipaningkamutan nga makapangita ko ug founding, support sa city (it was supposed to have started as early as August but got delayed as I was trying to get find fundings, support from the city),” Ong said.
The BNEO for GREAT Barangays Program is a 3-day seminar discussing different topics related to governing and administering a barangay.
