“Lingaw lingaw” with Choobi Choobi
“Lingaw lingaw” is the Cebuano translation of the Chinese words “Choobi Choobi”, which is the name of the new restaurant that has opened in Parkmall, Mandaue City.
Serving primarily Filipino dishes, the new restaurant has seafood dishes which are affordable compared to other restaurants. Their specialty of the house in the “Shrimp In the Bag” which comes in five different sauces, butter garlic, sauteed garlic, spicy gata, mild & spicy Choobi and the extra spicy whaah!.
“Actually we really priced it at very affordable prices…We have the cheapest shrimp dishes in Cebu…shrimps, crabs..we are the cheapest,” said Stan Tanchan, proprietor of Choobi Choobi.
The Shrimp In the Bag is one pound of shrimp with sweet corn cobs priced at P350. Prices at Choobi Choobi range from P20-P350 and it takes advantage of its own farm to always provide the freshest of shrimps and prawns, as well as organic vegetables and free-ranging chickens.
Other seafood delicacies one can enjoy at Choobi Choobi are Okiname tuna belly and Okiname tuna panga. Specialties like “Lola Pepang’s Fried Manok Bisdak”, which was Tanchan’s great grandmother’s recipe, Choobi pata, Belly dancer, Grilled Pompano and the Choobi house blend ice tea, are also available.
Cebuano favorites with new twists such as the fried adobong kanding, crispy balbacua and special stuffed squid are gourmet choices that are also part in their menu.
During the opening, sought-after celebrity, host and model Solenn Heusaff was present to dine with four winners in their raffle draw. Solenn entertained the diners and audience with songs and photo ops. Free gift certificates and freebies were also given away to winners of trivia questions.
