Limpyo Probinsya A Success

The “Limpyo Probinsya” anti-drug campaign gained tremendous success with the arrest last week of 128 drug suspects, including a public school teacher and an ex-police officer, in 64 police operations throughout the Cebu Province.

Limpyo Probinsya, now on its 4th wave, is a special anti-drug abuse campaign jointly embarked by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC) and the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) aimed at minimizing, if not totally cleansing the province of the drug menace.

Police Supt. Rodolfo Albotra, Provincial Intelligence and Detective Management Branch (PIDMB) chief, presented earlier today in the Capitol to Governor Hilario Davide III and the media the accomplishment report of their operations from January 12-18, 2016.

Albotra said the week-long operation resulted in the confiscation of 1.059 kgs of drugs believed to be shabu with an estimated worth of over P12 million.

Aside from the suspected drugs, also seized from the suspects were assorted firearms, ammunition and explosives.

The suspects included Ma. Jocelyn Arquillano, a public school teacher, and Gorosin Bandoy, a former PNP personnel. Albotra said that Arquillano, together with husband Diosdado and children, was caught in a buy-bust operation in San Francisco, Camotes.

The police authorities caught Bandoy, who was dismissed from service in January 2012, with 150 grams of illegal drugs and a firearm. He was arrested in a buy-bust operation at his residence in Minglanilla in January 15.

Albotra said the cases involving Arquillano and Bandoy underscore the importance of drug testing even among government employees.

On the other hand, Police Supt. Clifford Gairanod, CPPO officer-in-charge, warned that the police organization will not be lenient on those PNP officers found involved in illegal drugs.

The provincial government, together with the CPPO, continues to address the problem on drugs. “The activities coordinated with the CPPO these past years include giving of financial support for operations that the CPPO conducts, and the giving of incentives to deserving police officers,” said Provincial Board Member Ivy Durano-Meca, CPADAC vice chair.
