Lightning Caused Blackout in Visayas Says NGCP
Just before midnight of last night, areas in the Visayas region experienced a blackout.
According to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), a lightning strike caused a sudden power interruption in the Visayas.
“A lightning strike to NGCP’s Cebu-Quiot-Colon line just before midnight last night caused power interruptions across Cebu, Leyte, Samar, and Bohol,” NGCP said in a Facebook post.
The lightning strike caused the simultaneous tripping of the Colon-Cebu 138kV Lines 1, 2, and 3, and Colon-Quiot 138kV Line,
NGCP added that most feeders were already energized by 5:38 AM.
Meanwhile, the last remaining feeder that affected the franchise area of LEYECO V was restored at 12:16 PM today. (ASC)
