Light Rains Expected Over Luzon on Friday

Expect light rains in most parts of Luzon because of the effects of the northeast monsoon and tail-end of a cold front, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its Friday forecast, PAGASA said the cold northeast monsoon will affect Northern Luzon while the tail-end of a cold front will affect Central Luzon, especially in the eastern sections.

The tail-end of a cold front is the front boundary of two air masses, which produces clouds and rain.

PAGASA said Bicol region and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon and Samar will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms, while the regions of Cordillera, Ilocos and Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains while the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to north with slight to moderate seas.

The weather bureau also issued gale warning as strong to gale force wind affecting the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and of Visayas due to the presence of northeast monsoon.

“Fisherfolks and those using small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards,” it warned. (PNA) LGI/CLTC
