LeBron James Signs with Los Angeles Lakers
“Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons. This will always be home,” The 4-time MVP LeBron James said goodbye through his Instagram after signing a 4-year contract with the Lakers on July 7.
LeBron James leaves “The Land” for the second time as he seeks greener pastures at the land of the purple and gold.
According to a Twitter post by Klutch Sports Group, the 33-year old superstar agreed to a 4-year, $154M deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, with the last year being a player option.
Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers thanked LeBron James for delivering his promise and giving Cleaveland their first championship in 52 years.
“LeBron, you came home and delivered the ultimate goal. Nothing but appreciation and gratitude for everything you put into every moment you spent in a Cavaliers uniform. We look forward to the retirement of the famous #23 jersey one day down the line,” Gilbert said in a statement.
In 2016, Lebron James along with Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers to a championship and made history when they beat the Golden State Warriors in a 3-1 deficit, giving the Cavaliers its second title.
LeBron James brought the Cleveland Cavaliers to the finals 4 times in his four-year comeback and won one title. On his final season with the Cavs, LeBron James carried the whole Cavaliers team in the 2018 NBA Finals but fell short against the stacked Golden State Warriors, where they lost the series 4-0.
