Lawmakers Support San Miguel’s Franchise Bid For Airport Construction
Senators showed their support for San Miguel’s franchise bid for them to start the construction and operation of a domestic and international airport in Bulacan.
In its initial planning, the airport is expected to be constructed along the coastal part of the Municipality of Bulakan in Bulacan. The completion of the said airport is seen to be the way to help decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from passengers arriving from different places.
Aside from decongestion, the airport is also expected to help boost the economic developmental growth in Central Luzon.
Senate Bill No. 1823 allows the “construction, development, establishment, operation and maintenance” of the proposed “new Manila airport” by San Miguel.
Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri is the author of the said bill.
Zubiri revealed that the project was supposed to start 4 years ago, he even called this a “legacy project”.
Aside from Zubiri, fellow senators namely Senators Richard Gordon, Joel Villanueva, Win Gatchalian, Bong Go and others showed their excitement and support for the project. (MLC)
