Lausa Is New PXC 51 Flyweight Champion
Jenel Lausa filled up the vacant flyweight title after a feisty battle with fellow Filipino fighter Crisanto Pitpitunge via split decision at the main event of the Pacific X-treme Combat 51 (PXC 51) held at Solaire Resorts and Casino, Paranaque City, on Saturday night.
After a five-round battle, two judges scored 48-47 in favor of Lausa while the third judge scored 48-47 for Pitpitunge.
During the early rounds, Pitpitunge was taking down Lausa, but the latter immediately fought back. Lausa found his way back up and started throwing head kicks.
In the the second round. Lausa avoided Pitpitunge’s onslaught by throwing a good combination of his left jab and right straight punches.
In the third round, Pitpitunge looked for a single-leg take down, until he got it but Lausa blocked it with a good defense. Due to inactivity inside the cage, referee Donny Elvina broke them together and resumed the fight while standing.
The crowd loved the fight’s last two rounds as Lausa dominated the cage. Also, Pitpitunge received massive elbow strikes from Lausa during a take down.
Aside from being the new PXC flyweight champion, Lausa already have a professional record of six wins and two losses. On the other hand, Pitpitunge has 8 wins and 4 losses.
After the fight, Lausa thanked his team, “Team Insider”, fans and supporters.
“I will fight anybody that will be given to me in the lineup,” he said. (PNA) BNB/Dan Mari E. Cabrera (OJT) /PJN
