Larsian Reopens with More Food Choices for Diners to Enjoy
“Cleaner and better Larsian.”
These were just among the descriptions of most people who turned up for the reopening of the Larsian food strip last Friday, Nov. 16.
Through the years, Larsian has been a well-known go to place for Cebuanos who have barbeque cravings. And with that, the Cebu Provincial Government, with the assistance of Cebu City Government, gave Larsian a facelift to provide its diners a more refined environment and better experience.
The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) also provided technical assistance to the Capitol for Larsian’s new water system.
Siblings Cheryl and Paula Navarro said that they always recommend to their guests to eat at Larsian because of its established name, good food and convenient spot in the heart of the city.
Both of them were happy to see a lot of improvements at Larsian after it underwent a rehabilitation for three months. They particularly noted the well-organized vendors and the cleanliness of the new Larsian.
“For us, cleanliness is imperative when it comes to dealing with food. And, people get attracted to eat in a clean place,” said Paula.
Alberto Herrera, Larsian administrator, pointed out that they improved the drainage systems so it won’t invite pests and insects. He added that Larsian now has 24/7 water supply, clean restrooms and washrooms, and a parking space.
The roof of the grill has been raised further to keep the smoke from spreading to the dining area.
Larsian also implemented stricter policy guidelines for the staffs and store owners, such as no more calling of undecided costumers where to eat and the proper wearing of uniform (no sleeveless, short-shorts and slippers are allowed). All stall personnel also underwent training in food handling and customer service.
Herrera also encouraged all stalls to come up with a menu list and pricelist so diners while eating would know how much they would be paying.
“We, in the Provincial Government, we strive to make efforts to educate them on the importance of being clean, honest, and transparent that’s really the governance of Gov. Hilario P. Davide III. They should reflect the governance of the present administration,” said Herrera.
Herrera said that Larsian opened more stalls with more food choices available. Aside from the famous barbeque, diners can now enjoy a variety of dishes, such as linarang, kaldereta, seafoods, as well as ice cream, shakes and halo-halo for refreshment. (Cebu Provincial Gov’t)
