Lapu Strengthens Campaign vs Cyberporn
After the arrest of the “queen of cyberpornography” early this week, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza ordered her barangay officials to monitor their respective areas of the presence of such illegal activities.
“Akong gi-remind ang atong mga barangay officials nga pahugtan nila ang pag-monitor sa ilang mga lugar,” said Radaza. Radaza said it is alarming that there are still cyberporn businesses possibly operating in Lapu-Lapu. She said the city has tapped its Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team to help the barangays locate the houses and internet cafes believed to be cyberporn dens.
Last Sunday, a 35-year-old woman was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for cyberpornography. The woman was alleged of bringing minor girls to her house where they are paid by foreign customers abroad for cybersex. In the past few years, a number of arrest of similar crimes were also recovered in the areas of Lapu-Lapu and Cordova.
