Lapu-Lapu City Hotels Fully-booked for Cobra Ironman on Aug. 7

Lapu-Lapu City– Hotel in Lapu-Lapu City are fully-booked for the Cobra Ironman 70.3 2016 Asia-Pacific Championship triathlon set on Sunday, Aug. 7, an official said.

Lapu-Lapu Tourism Officer Hembler Mendoza said the city had 4,879 rooms in 79 hotels, which were enough to accommodate the participants of the international sports event.

All the superior and deluxe rooms were reserved, except for some executive or presidential rooms, Mendoza said.

“The hotels will make in three nights what they usually earn in 15 days,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza said foreign triathletes started to arrive on Thursday.

The event will have 2,869 participants from 43 countries, including 35 in the elite pro division.

Mendoza said they also expected room reservations in the hotels in Mandaue City and Cebu City.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said the city government would host the welcome party and carbo-loading dinner for the participants of the Ironman at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa on Friday night. (PNA) RMA/EB/EDS
