The sun is out, and many people are heading to the beach to relax and have fun. But with the intense heat nowadays, it’s important to take care of yourself, especially when spending time under the sun.

Too much sun exposure can be harmful. You can easily get sunburned, dehydrated, or experience heat exhaustion. That’s why it’s important to stay safe and follow these simple tips when going to the beach:

1. Avoid going to the beach at noon.

The sun is at its hottest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s best to stay indoors or in the shade during these hours. This helps you avoid sunburn, heatstroke, and dehydration.

2. Choose early morning or late afternoon for beach time.

Go to the beach before 10 a.m. or after 3 p.m. The weather is cooler, the light is softer, and it’s safer for your skin and body.

3. Always wear sunscreen.

Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Apply it 15–30 minutes before sun exposure and
reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming or sweating.

4. Bring sun protection.

Wear a hat, sunglasses, and light clothing. Use an umbrella or find a shaded spot to rest. This helps protect your skin and eyes from too much UV exposure.

5. Drink plenty of water.

Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Drink water regularly throughout the day. Avoid alcohol or sugary drinks, as they can dehydrate you faster.

6. Watch for signs of heat exhaustion.

If you feel dizzy, weak, or get a headache, rest right away and drink water. Don’t ignore what your body is telling you.

Taking care of yourself under the sun is a must. It’s not just about enjoying the beach — it’s about keeping yourself safe and healthy.

So next time you plan a beach trip, keep these tips in mind. Enjoy the sun, but don’t let it harm you. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of yourself. (ASC)
