Kawit Island Deal On Hold, Osmeña: ‘Politics Hurting Cebu’
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña reacts to Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella’s statement on Wednesday as all politics.
In a press conference posted on Facebook Live by SunStar Cebu, Vice Mayor Labella said that the approval of the P18 billion kawit deal is not valid and the session was already adjourned before the majority bloc made the decision.
Osmeña said that the opposition will block his projects and these actions are hurting Cebuanos.
He added that the Isla de la Victoria in Kawit Island will generate 5,000 jobs for Cebuanos.
“It’s so painful to deprive the city of 5,000 jobs at the time we need so many jobs…and they (Team Rama) said no and they came up with so many excuses…” Osmeña uttered.
He also mentioned that Labella is taking orders from Michael Dino, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and added that Labella is nothing without Dino.
The P18 Billion development Kawit Island at the South Road Properties is a joint venture agreement (JVA) of the Cebu City government and Gokongwei-led Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc. (UHRI). (ASC)
