KAC Homecoming 2014 Recognizes Alumni’s School and Community Projects
Alumni of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc – Kool Adventure Camp (RAFI-KAC) gathered last ast October 18 to 19 to present the best practices they adopted
They were also recognized on their implemented school and community projects, such as study area construction, tutorials, clean-up drive, old uniform donations, tree planting, feeding and waste segregation.
Alumni campers actively participated in the planning, preparation and implementation of their post program projects.
The homecoming also aimed to reorient the alumni on the connection between adventure program and effective leadership.
“As an alumni camper who have learned and grown so much from KAC, I felt truly honored being recognized. Though it was a recognition for our efforts, it felt more of a challenge. A challenge to be worthy of the recognition. A challenge to learn more, serve more and lead more”, a grateful Supreme Student Goverment president Hebraica Ambus, one of the alumni from Toledo City Science High School.

The projects implemented by the KAC alumni are part of their post-program initiatives, where applied the leadership skills and RAFI – KAC’s core values of character, competence and citizenship.
On day one of the homecoming activity, KAC facilitatedsharing sessionswith speakersCharles Gothong and Edvan Loh. Afternoon activities included challenge ropes course whilealumni project presentationswere held in the evening.
Charles Gothong, a KAC alumnus, shared that he always learn something new each time he comes back to KAC.

“If you ask me to share all that I have learned, I will take a lifetime. If every Cebuano youth will join KAC, this nation will change for the better”, Gothong added.
On day two, KAC alumni Jedde Ampolitod and Gabriel Lamparasshared their experiences happened.
“The moment I experienced Kool Adventure Camp, I knew I had to do something. Who I am and what I have does not really matter. What matters most is what others have become because of me. I have become the CHANGE I want to see in this world,” Ampolitod said.
“I can consider Kool Adventure Camp as one of my parents. As a triathlete, KAC helped me go through my journey in life. Now, being a KAC Youth Development Program Instructor, it is my time to help others to achieve their goals”, added Lamparas.

The event culminated with a closing remarks from the KAC – Youth Development Program (YDP) Deputy Director Marie Sol Gonzalvo.
“If you want to be someone then do something…. Do something now. Do it now. Do it with all your heart. Make a difference. Greatness will follow,”she said.
The event was the first alumni homecoming that happened at the KAC adventure education center. KAC also announced the next alumni homecoming happening on May 2015.
KAC is one of the programs under the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Incorporated (RAFI) Leadership & Citizenship focus area, where future leaders are nurtured to prepare them to take an active role in effecting change. RAFI’s other focus areas are Integrated Development, Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Culture and Heritage, and Education.
Banilad Night High School Supreme Student Government President Jojen Enriquez was one of the awardees during the KAC Alumni Homecoming 2014.
KAC has been offering adventure education programs for leadership and team development for youth and professionals for the last decade. It has recently opened the Philippines’ first fully dedicated adventure education center last August 2014.
