JVR to Amend Ordinance Creating TCC Board
Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes on Tuesday revealed that he will have the ordinance creating the Talisay City College (TCC) amended, specially on the composition of the board of trustees.
“Ako na ipa-amend kay kwestyonable man na. Nganong wa may representative sa mga sektor?” asked de los Reyes.
He said it is also “fishy” why the council on May 23, 2013, just days after he was elected mayor, suddenly amended the board’s composition, changing the post of the congressman from being an honorary chairman to member, and adding the city treasurer to the board.
The mayor, who is chairman of the board, said it seems that the previous administration had ensured that the board is composed mainly of its allies.
De los Reyes said Ritchel Bacaltos, acting college president, was appointed right after he defeated former first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas in the mayoralty post.
Bacaltos was city administrator and at the same time campaign manager of Gullas.
De los Reyes said he would include in the board representative from concerned sectors like the academe, which was deleted by the previous council, and of other people’s organizations.
