JobStreet Empowers Jobseekers to Land their Dream Job with an Effective Resume
In today’s competitive job market, submitting a well-crafted resume is essential for both fresh graduates and experienced applicants. While job interviews are what ultimately get you hired, it’s your resume that determines your success from the start.
According to a study by JobStreet, the average HR person only spends 30 seconds browsing each resume, and many don’t even reach the hiring manager. This is why it’s crucial to create a winning resume that stands out.
JobStreet by SEEK, one of the leading online job portals, believes that crafting a winning resume is the key to landing your next big career move. This is especially important for fresh graduates, who need to present themselves to the best of their abilities.
To empower job seekers, JobStreet recently hosted a webinar entitled “Creating a Winning Resume,” featuring thought leaders like Jheric Delos Angeles, Head of Marketing and Customer Experience at BUKAS; Myke Celis, Multi-awarded Global Master Coach, and International Best-selling Author; and Kim Viray, Head of Marketing at JobStreet Philippines.
Your resume is essentially a storytelling document that allows the reader to get a glimpse of your unique experiences and background. While there’s no real formula for creating a great resume, it’s important to highlight what makes you unique and avoid listing your daily tasks. Instead, focus on the details that show what you’ve contributed to your previous employer. Fresh graduates can also include extracurricular activities and volunteer work.
It’s crucial to tailor your resume to the job you’re applying for by including relevant information that demonstrates how you can add value to the company. Quality is more important than quantity, so avoid mass-sending identical copies of your resume. Highlight your most relevant experience and skills to leave a lasting impression on the hiring manager. Doing research on the company’s preferences is also necessary to customize your resume and cover letter accordingly.
Professionalism is a big factor in the corporate world, and your resume is the first impression the hiring manager will have of you. Pay attention to every detail, including your photograph, email address, grammar, and spelling. Use a formal font and be consistent and factual.
“Just like creating a winning resume, this is just the beginning towards success. We have lined up a series of events for the rest of the year to fulfill our team’s mission which is to provide support and jobs to every Filipino,” said Kim Viray, JobStreet Philippines Head of Marketing.
“We will ensure that there will be less friction when it comes to your overall job search process in the JobStreet platform,” he added.
