“Are you not thirsty?” said the Lion.

“I am dying of thirst,” said Jill.

“Then drink,” said the Lion.

“May I — could I — would you mind going away while I do?” said Jill.

The Lion answered this only by a look and a very low growl. And as Jill gazed at its motionless bulk, she realized that she might as well have asked the whole mountain to move aside for her convenience.

The delicious rippling noise of the stream was driving her nearly frantic.

“Will you promise not to — do anything to me, if I do come?” said Jill.

“I make no promise,” said the Lion.

Jill was so thirsty now that, without noticing it, she had come a step nearer.

“Do you eat girls?” she said.

“I have swallowed up girls and boys, women and men, kings and emperors, cities and realms,” said the Lion. It didn’t say this as if it were boasting, nor as if it were sorry, nor as if it were angry. It just said it.

“I daren’t come and drink,” said Jill.

“Then you will die of thirst,” said the Lion.

“Oh dear!” said Jill, coming another step nearer. “I suppose I must go and look for another stream then.”

“There is no other stream,” said the Lion.”

The short story above has some few parallelisms that can be linked to spirituality specifically on Jesus Christ and His deeds as one can find in the Holy Bible. Allow me to pinpoint some symbols to you from the story and its parallelisms that I know in the Bible.

1) LION: Jesus Christ is given this title (among many others) the “Lion of Judah” because He is the King who is God who lived on earth, died and resurrected to save humanity from the eternal flames of hell, due to sin that flared through one man, Adam (Genesis; John 3:16). He earned this title given to Him by the Father due to His sacrificial acts which sprung out from His love to humanity and His obedience to His Father (Revelation 5:5)

2)”… SWALLOWED UP GIRLS AND BOYS, WOMEN AND MEN, KINGS AND EMPERORS, CITIES AND REALMS…”: Being the Savior, He has saved people from various backgrounds and hierarchies through all generations who heard the message of His salvation and received as their Lord and Savior. The message is they can either go to Hell or go to Heaven by their choice,
after they die (Hebrews 9:27). They can go to Heaven if they have put their faith in Christ and go to Hell if not (John 3:18). Jesus Christ has also conquered places in His name overtime to herald this said message, through messengers (Acts).

3) STREAM: This speaks of the salvation that our soul needs (of heaven), not our physical, emotional nor mental needs, but that of the spiritual (John 4).

4)”…NO OTHER STREAM…” Jesus is the only way to salvation and there is no other else ( John 14: 6; 1 Timothy 2: 5).
