Japan Donates Rice for Typhoon Odette Victims
The Japanese government donated about 300 metric tonnes of rice to the victims of Typhoon Odette in Cebu, Bohol, and Surigao del Norte.
Japan Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko and National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Judy Carol Dansa welcomed the arrival of the sacks of rice at the NFA warehouse in Valenzuela City on Monday.
The 300 metric tonnes of rice came from the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR).
APTERR is a cooperation in the ASEAN region that aims to strengthen food security, poverty alleviation, and malnourishment eradication among its member countries.
APTERR also donated sacks of rice to the victims of past typhoons such including Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, Typhoon Ineng in 2015, and Typhoon Jenny in 2019. (ASC)
