ITCZ Continues to Bring Rains on Thursday
MANILA, June 23 (PNA) – Expect rains in most parts of the country on Thursday since an intetropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to be the dominant weather system, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA said ITCZ, the occurrence of thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for low-pressure areas (LPAs) or potential cyclones affecting Visayas and Mindanao.
This weather system is expected to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms during the day over Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Light to moderate winds blowing from east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and from the southwest to southeast over Mindanao.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
The state weather bureau has not issued gale warning so fisherfolks are safe to venture into the seas. (PNA) JSV/CLTC
