Iran Confirms First Two Deaths from Coronavirus
Iran on Wednesday confirmed the deaths of two people from coronavirus in the country.
In a Twitter post, Kianoush Jahanpour, Iran’s Health Ministry spokesman, said that two people died in the northern Qom province.
Earlier, Jahanpour had confirmed two cases of coronavirus in the country, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
A number of suspected cases were also quarantined in the same province in the past two days, he said.
Schools closing in Qom, Iran
Meanwhile, the Iranian city of Qom is shutting down schools and universities following the deaths of two people from the coronavirus, Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA reported Wednesday.
The move is being taken beginning Thursday in order to prevent the spread of the virus and to investigate the matter. (AA)
