iPhone Case Let’s You Charge Your Device by Using Hand
Forget wireless chargers, the latest way to extend the battery life of our phone is in the palm of our hand.
Introducing the Mipwr Dynamo, an iPhone case with two uses: it acts as protective shield and at the same time a charger for your phone.
The Mipwr Dynamo works through electromagnetic induction, which is the process of generating electricity using a magnetic field. In this case, when your phone’s battery begins to drain, you can easily pop out the hand crank from the side of the case and squeeze it to power it up. As you squeeze the lever, a charge is generated.
Designers Bob Panos and Karl Lee have now set up a Kickstarter campaign to fund production of their Mipwr cases.
Mipwr Dynamo is an all-in-one protective case, backup battery, and hybrid charger. The case contains a 400 mA battery and a concealed push lever.
‘These efforts will create enough battery power to make a distress call or text at a moment’s notice’, the designers said.
The first batch of cases will be available for the iPhone 4, 4S and 5.
The campaign runs until October 19 and the designers are asking for $78,000 in funding to get the project off the ground.
If this is successful, the initial cases will cost $25.
