Interactive Game to be Used For Fisherfolk’s Financial Education
Around 1.9 million fisherfolks in the country will be able to benefit from the government’s financial education (fin-ed) through an interactive game.
Saving, preparing for future needs, the wise use of credit, benefits of microinsurance for managing risks, managing other income sources during lean fishing seasons, and sustainable fishing will all be part of the said game to further help fisherfolks make an effective way of living.
With strict quarantine protocols still being observed, the game will be conducted online and a session will be held in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao during the 2nd quarter of this year.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno said that they also teamed up with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for manpower purposes.
“We underscore the need for all public servants–including policemen and firefighters — to adopt good financial habits regardless of income level,” said Diokno. (MLC)
