Inflation Rate in Central Luzon, Lowest in the Country

on

Central Luzon regional inflation rate continues to be the lowest in the country at 4.5 percent for September.

“Based on the records of the Philippine Statistics Authority, the inflation rate in the country for September is 6.7% or 0.3% higher than the 6.4% inflation rate in August,” Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Director Judith Angeles said.

To ensure that the supply of basic needs and prime commodities are sufficient, and that prices are stable, DTI has intensified its monitoring activities nationwide including rice and agricultural products, especially in wet markets.

The agency also held meetings with rice millers in Bulacan, the United Broilers Association and the Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines to ensure that supply of food and meat are sufficient and prices are reasonable.

“Our Provincial Offices in Central Luzon have already been instructed to coordinate with the Local Price Coordinating Council to assess the price and supply situation in their respective localities and to ensure that local government units support the effort of DTI in mitigating the effects of the rising inflation rate in the country,” Angeles added.

Everyone is enjoined to use the Consumer Care Hotline or the 1-DTI (1-384) hotline and the ConsumerCare@dti.gov.phemail to enhance access to government and to address consumer concerns. (CLJD-PIA 3)
