inDrive Brings Affordable and Safe Ride-Hailing to Cebu
inDrive, a globally recognized ride-hailing service, has officially launched its operations in Cebu, providing Cebuanos with a new, reliable, and budget-friendly transportation option. The launch includes over 500 partner drivers ready to serve the city’s growing demand. As part of its introduction, inDrive is offering a special promo: new users can enjoy ₱100 cashback on their first ride while existing users receive ₱200 cashback.
Cebu’s prominence as a top destination in the Philippines, attracting 1.55 million tourists in 2023 and boasting a robust business environment with over 300 BPO companies, makes it an ideal location for inDrive’s expansion. Atty. Kent Jongoy, Assistant Department Head of the Cebu City Transportation Office, highlighted the importance of this addition, noting, “The availability of inDrive as an alternative for commuters ensures better service and convenience for our public transportation system.”
inDrive begins Cebuano driver recruitment with 0% commission rate
To attract and support local drivers, inDrive is offering a 0% commission rate for the first two to six months. This initiative aims to maximize earnings for Cebuano drivers, after which a minimal 10% service charge—the lowest in the Philippine ride-hailing market—will be implemented. Sofia Guinto, Business Development Head for the Philippines, emphasized the importance of Cebu in their plans: “The high demand for reliable ride-hailing services and interest in alternative earning opportunities make Cebu a priority market for us.”
The app also plans to introduce other incentives to its partner drivers such as performance-based bonuses, loyalty rewards, and special promotions for peak times and local events.
inDrive formalizes its partnership with Cebu TNVS organizations and government officials through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a milestone in improving mobility and driver opportunities in Cebu.
inDrive executes safety measures for Cebuano drivers and passengers
Ahead of its launch, inDrive has enhanced its in-app security features, boosting data protection and safety options. The platform has updated its data privacy policies to include stronger encryption and regular system audits. Users can now list up to five trusted contacts for emergencies.
inDrive has also partnered with Laban TNVS to strengthen data privacy training for drivers. This annual training ensures drivers are well-versed in internet security laws and compliance.
Laban TNVS President Jun De Leon expressed excitement over inDrive’s expansion to Cebu. He said, “We are truly excited that inDrive is expanding its reach here in the Philippines. This is an opportunity to broaden the training program and open an avenue to assist our fellow Ka-Gulong. Through this, they will learn about data privacy laws and other concerns in our sector. Our Ka-Gulong in Cebu can be assured that we will implement programs to further improve their service for passengers.”
inDrive plans to open the inDrive Cebu Drivers Centre in early 2025, providing a hub for drivers to share feedback and suggestions, helping inDrive adapt to local needs. The company aims to onboard 5,000 partner drivers in Cebu by the end of the first quarter 2025.
