Ilonggo Tops 2018 PMA Graduating Class
Cadet First Class Jaywardene Galilea Honotria of Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo tops the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Alagad ng Lahing Binigkis ng Tapang at Lakas (Alab Tala) Class of 2018.
The valedictorian and Brigade Commander of Alab Tala 2018 will receive the Presidential Saber Award from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during the graduation rites set this Sunday, March 18 at the Fort del Pilar, this city.
Honotria, a registered nurse, will also receive the Philippine Navy Saber, and 11 other awards.
Second in rank is Cadet 1CL Ricardo Witawit Liwaden from Gawana, Barlig, Mountain Province. He will receive the Vice Presidential Saber and Philippine Army Saber being the top graduate joining the Army.
No. 3 is Cadet 1CL Jun-Jay Malazzab Castro from Amulung, Cagayan. He will be awarded the Secretary of National Defense Saber.
Ranked fourth is Cadet 1CL Leonore Andrea Cariño Japitan from Ambago, Butuan City who will receive the Management Plaque.
Others in the Top 10 are Cadet 1CL Mark Jantzen Nono Dacillo(No. 5) from Zamboanga City; No. 6 is Cadet 1CL Jezaira Laquinon Buenaventura who will receive the Department of Tactical Officer Plaque, Aguinaldo Saber, Distinguised Cadet Award (Starman) and No. 7 is Cadet 1CL Jessie Antonio Laranag from Tarlac who will receive the Philippine Air Force Saber.
Cadet 1CL Paolo Balla Briones from Baguio City is ranked 8th and No. 9 is Cadet 1CL Jayson Raymundo Cimatu from Casiguran, Aurora.
Rounding the Top 10 is Cadet 1CL Micah Quimbao Reynaldo of Bamban, Tarlac. She will be awarded the Australian Defence Best Overall Performance Award- Philippine Air Force.
Two cadets are also recognized as Outstanding Graduates. Cadet 1CL Christian Michael Olarte Peña from Legazpi, Albay will be conferred the Journalism Award while Cadet 1CL Jasm Marie Alcoriza from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental will receive Athletic Saber.
PMA officials led by Superintendent Major General Donato San Juan presented the top graduates of Alab Tala Class of 2018 in a media briefing at the PMA Longayban Hall on Wednesday.
San Juan shared the Alab Tala Class, which stands for the three values the class follows – excellence, solidarity, and humility – is the third class in 67 years to have a cadet graduating as Valedictorian and at the same time Class Baron.
The 282-strong PMA Class of 2018 is composed of 207 male and 75 female cadets.(JDP/JBZ-PIA CAR)
