Iloilo City Suspends Classes Due to Earthquake
Mayor Jose Espinosa III ordered the suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private schools, after series of earthquake events were felt in this city, November 5.
In his announcement posted on the Facebook account of the city government, Espinosa said classes are suspended in all levels both public and private schools to ensure the safety of everyone in this city because of the earthquake.,
“Iloilo City Hall will also be closed for the rest of the day,” said Espinosa.
He left to the discretion of private companies and national government agencies in the declaration of the suspension of their work.
Earthquakes were felt in this city at 7:45 A.M and 10:54 A.M.
PHIVOLCS Earthquake Bulletins of latest seismic events in the country showed that the magnitude of the first earthquake was 4.7 with epicenter in San Jose, Antique and the second earthquake’s magnitude was recorded at 4.8 with epicenter in Guimbal, Iloilo.
Philippine Health Insurance Corporation VI and Government Services Insurance System Iloilo based in this city also suspended their operations on said date. (JBG/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
