Ilagan City Eyes ‘Child-Friendly’ Award
This city is all efforts for another achievement as it subjected itself recently to national evaluation to the Child-Friendly City Award.
The evaluation process aimed to assess the city’s conduciveness and favorability to children in terms of education, social welfare services, health conditions, and local governance.
The organization of the barangay council for the protection of children, capability development initiatives for service provider, budgetary requirements and legislation supporting children’s welfare and rights were also taken into consideration.
Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz said he is optimistic that the city government, the region’s bet to the national level, will get the Presidential Award as a Child-Friendly City this year.
“We have implemented various programs, projects and development initiatives here as we have considered top priority the welfare of children in the city,” Diaz said.
He said the city government has been implementing innovative projects such as Assist in Nourishing A Kid (ANAK) which aims to achieve good nutrition status among pre and school children. (ALM/MGE/PIA-2 Isabela)
