IIFA Holds Cinema Electrik

The International Institute for Film & Broadcast Arts (IIFA), together with Cebu Filmmakers Club and Canon Philippines, will hold a 3-day film workshop on May 21 to 24, dubbed as “Cinema Electrik: Cebu,” an introduction to directing, cinematography and production management.

“For our country’s movie industry to revive, it needs a national support, not just from Metro Manila but from micro levels too and these are Metro Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo and all of our cities with an enormous amount of talent and potential. IIFA’s education efforts to conduct workshops and by partnering with state universities are just a part of what it will take to make this evolutionary process happen,” Founder and Program Director Crispo Mojica said in a press statement.

Day 1 of the workshop will tackle production management which will then be followed by directing commercials on Day 2. Day 3 will introduce basics on post production and film digital cinematography. The workshop will culminate on the last day with a graduation ceremony for the participants.

Mojica will also head “Dig Deep,” an open forum with a panel of Cebu’s film organizations on the topic of building Cebu’s film industry. The open forum is set to happen on May 20 at Handuraw Pizza.

“I am confident that the forum and the 3-day workshop will help spark the interest of more organizations to join in this undertaking and so together, we can sustain a program development that works. In behalf of IIFA, I stand committed to make this a reality,” Mojica said.
