ICYMI: iOS 18 is Now Available to Download for Compatible Devices
In case you’re living under a rock, Apple already released iOS 18 this week, bringing a bevy of new features to compatible iPhones. The new iOS version offers enhancements in customization, photos, messaging, and privacy.
Users can now personalize their Home Screen further with custom icons and widgets, choose custom layouts, and rearrange controls in Control Center and Lock Screen as Apple seems to have made customization a key feature in iOS 18.
Additionally, the Photos app has undergone a redesign, featuring a simplified layout with “intelligent organization.” Photos are automatically categorized into collections like Recent, People & Pets, and Trips. Users can also personalize their experience with custom layouts and pinned collections. Users may have trouble getting used to the new UI of the app, however.
Another highly touted feature is on iMessage, as it has gained new text formatting options, text effects, and sticker Tapbacks.
More importantly, Users can now enjoy Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging for enhanced iPhone-to-Android communication. For those who are not tech-savvy, this means messaging between iPhones and Android devices will not be limited to mere text messages anymore. The Phone app also now supports call recording and transcription.
The new iOS version also comes with new privacy and security features, as the new Passwords app simplifies password management and offers alerts for compromised credentials. The update now also features app locking, app hiding, and hidden message and email protection.
